Pick Pumpkin Pleasure

Hallowe’en – that North American holiday the rest of the world seems to scratch their heads at – is a-comin’. Fast.
Time to get a pumpkin? Perhaps even two or three?
Consider heading out to Carnation, Washington and spend the day at Remlinger Farms.
The fun starts in the Pumpkin Patch – where admission is free and u-pick your own perfect pumpkin (small pumpkins are $3, medium pumpkins are $6, and large pumpkins are $10). Take a tractor/hay ride around the patch. Then head over to their market for a bit of produce and arts ‘n’ crafts shopping. Feeling peckish? Grab a bite at their bakery/deli restaurant (their caramel apples are just what one expects from the ideal caramel apple: the apple is large, crisp, tart and wrapped with soft ‘n’ sweet buttery caramel).
Feel the need for even more autumn harvest revelry? The last weekend in September and all through October they hold their October Fall Harvest Festival (September 26 & 27th and every weekend in October, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Admission is $15.25 unless 12 months and under or 65 and over. Enjoy their Family Fun Park – everything from mechanical rides to food carts to a petting zoo – in the crisp autumn air. Take a choo-choo steam train ride. Admission price even includes a giant corn maze adventure (whoo-hoo!). Friday nights they even offer an evening flashlight corn maze adventure (October 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)
So pitter patter on over to ponder ‘n’ peek pumpkins-a-plenty.
