Salish Lodge & Spa Gets PNW Reno: Go Espresso Yourself

October 8, 2009 by Hedonista · 1 Comment

Salish Lodge & Spa is reinventing itself … kinda. Located within arm’s reach (well, practically) of the breathtaking Snoqualmie falls, this rustically romantic retreat – a mere 30 minutes east of Seattle – is returning to its nascent northwest surroundings: nature, nurture, and native culture.

The AAA Four Diamond Salish Lodge & Spa overlooks the 268-foot Snoqualmie Falls.

The AAA Four Diamond Salish Lodge & Spa is shrouded in mist as it overlooks the picturesque 268-foot Snoqualmie Falls.

Both the spa and the lodge are taking part. Their new spa treatment menu and guest room renos feature indigenous Pacific Northwest (PNW) elements and incorporate regionally sourced ingredients and components where possible.  (Your Hedonista was recently invited to a media stay with all the trimmings.)

“The Pacific Northwest is a unique national treasure, rich in culture and natural beauty,” said Melanie Silver, spa director at Salish Lodge & Spa. “We celebrate these treasures by utilizing native ingredients in a range of soothing, energizing and restorative treatments.”

The two therapeutic soaking pools come in two temps - hot and less hot - depending on personal preference.

I tried their new 3-step Espresso Hydrating Body Wrap ($195): 1)  espresso citron naturally foaming body exfoliant; 2) coffee orchid hydrating body serum wrap;

and 3) jasmine java nourishing crème massage. This treatment uses natural exfoliants made from locally produced organic espresso. Absolutely divine. The treatment leaves you feeling simultaneously relaxed yet energized … not to mention smooth all over. (This month there’s a free gift with purchase if you book this treatment or their Northwest Coffee Exfoliation ($125): a free coffee energizing bar.)

(The other new PNW-themed treatment is the new Green Tea & Northwest Seaweed Salt Glow ($115) – a detoxifying treatment to buff skin and restore its natural glow that contains nutrient-rich seaweed from Puget Sound – as well as some new spa packages like Roaring Falls ($500), Salish Sanctuary ($335) and Northwest Mountain Man ($335) … all very PNW-y.)

The old look.

The old look. Good-bye, dear old Salish Lodge & Spa rooms. We shall miss you!

Also in the Pacific Northwest spirit, the lodge itself  is currently undergoing a return-to-its-roots renovation. Starting last month and ending sometime this December, this makeover involves a reno of all 89 rooms. Each room will be updated with custom-built furniture, carpet, bedding and décor. Feeling nostalgic? Now’s the time to enjoy the old rooms one last time … and at a 20% discount (Sunday-Thursday). You’ll then be invited back to try out the new rooms – again, at 20% off – in January-March of next year. Just sign up for their Renovation Celebration.

Go espresso yourself, PNW style.
