Saturday’s Successful Bake Sale

A big thank you needs to go out to all of you who supported Saturday’s bake sale. This bake sale, made up of lusciously foodalicious goodies (both savory and sweet) were whipped up by several local Seattle food bloggers.
Your Hedonista was one of them; together, we raised bucks for the No Kid Hungry Campaign of Share Our Strength, a national non-profit dedicating to the eradication of hunger of among all children within the United States.
Close to 800 bucks, in fact: $787.00 in total!

The finished product: mini Chai Tea Carrot Cakes with Spiced Cream Cheese and sprinkled cinnamon on top. Keren Brown tried one and texted me her feedback: "Really delish perfect."
It was a great event, and a chance for several Seattle food bloggers to connect and (in most cases) reconnect through yesterday’s bake sale, which was held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The goodies included the following: Strawberry Jam Jewel Cookies, Lemon Cake Balls, Blueberry Crumble Coffee Cake, Molasses Spice Cookies, Cashew Bacon Brittle, Banana Bread, Triple-Ginger Mascarpone Cream Sandwiches, Homemade Marshmallows in a variety of flavors (like chocolate-orange, mint, and rose water), and Cider & Spice Cinnamon Rolls.
Of course, your Hedonista’s very own Chai Tea Carrot Cakes, which were frosted with Spiced Cream Cheese and topped with dashes of cinnamon, were featured. The cake recipe ended up making around 16-18 mini-loaves (the pan has 8 mini loaves in total) and the frosting recipe was just enough to cover them all. The mini loaves ended up a perfect size, and were sold at the event at $3 a pop.
Mix 'n' match (left to right): Ingredients, pre-carrot; post-carrot blend; and finally, batter-ready.
The next time I make this, I think I’ll try cupcakes, baked sandwiches, or a layered cake version, just to mix things up.
If you had a chance to try them yesterday, I hope that you enjoyed them (feel free to let me know). And if you didn’t get a chance to pick some up and try them, you can always try the recipe yourself at home, dear hedonists.
