Ah, the Lemon Drop martini: refreshing, sweet, and truly a classic. Also a fitting name for a delightful lil’ boutique in Wallingford – proprietor Jodi Obde definitely thought so. Recently named “Best New Boutique” in Seattle Magazine’s Best of ‘09 Reader’s Choice Awards, her vintage boutique – which opened July 4th of last year – reflects her professional history as a former event planner, floral designer, and staging consultant: the interior is its own work of art (not to mention constantly changing and always evolving). Jodi is also no stranger to vintage clothing and antiques, but she doesn’t stop there; her eclectic combination of old and new, plush velvet and industrial, and art deco saloon and bordello bends the linear into the horseshoe, making seemingly mismatched items work well together.

“Just like with people, opposites attract,” she says. Indeedy-do. This place is like Anthropologie meets estate sale, complete with multi-generational appeal. Très cool, très chic, and très fun.

Open at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday to Sunday (until 5:00 p.m. weekdays and 7:00 p.m. on weekends), the Lemon Drop has something for everyone: from clothing to jewelry to fabrics to home decor to bath products. What’s more, with items as low as fifty-cents for candy to up to $200 dollars for antique lamps – with clothing in the $20-$50 range – this place is a treasure trove of fabulous finds just waiting to be discovered.

Oh, and there are lemon drops, of course. Gratis, no less. (Your Hedonista was also gifted with a product or two as she walked out the door.)
